Scientists from Stanford University developed a new type of computer that runs on drops of water by using their mechanical properties.

The main idea behind this is that one drop replaces one bit. Instead of 1 and 0, it replaces the presence and absence of water and creates code this way.

This water computer is synchronized with a clock that moves the drops in set intervals, without error. The scientists, who were working on the computer for nearly a decade, demonstrated its use for almost every basic computer operation.

As the magnetic field controls millions of drops simultaneously, the scientists claim that this computer can be used for many applications. The Stanford University team hopes that soon they’ll be able to upgrade the system to run operations much faster than it does now.
