Sneakers that know their own way or “smart sneakers” were manufactured by an Indian company.
Equipped with a GPS device they give the person wearing the sneakers instructions on which way to go with the help of vibrations.
Thanks to an inbuilt Bluetooth the sneakers are connected with a smart phone and with the help of the Google Map they send signals and direct their wearer to the left or to the right.
The “LaChal” sneakers are red and will be able to count steps, distance and number of calories. Their Hindu name means “take me with you” and they have been on the market since September 2014.
The designers are engineers Krispian Lawrence and Anirudh Sharma, who came up with this idea wishing to help blind people have already received orders for 25,000 sneakers. The price of these sneakers ranges from 100 to 150 dollars.
