As the Sultanate of Oman’s iconic landmark venue prepares for its highly-anticipated Phase One opening in the first quarter of 2016, the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) is launching a worldwide recruitment drive to fill 50 full-time key positions in events, operations, hospitality and technology.
Commenting on the significant contribution of the Travel and Tourism industry to Oman’s national economy, Eng. Wael Al Lawati, Omran Group CEO, the government body that drives the investment, growth and development of tourism in the Sultanate highlighted the OCEC will not only serve to boost Oman’s image and accessibility as a tourist destination, but will also generate a significant economic stimulus and on-going revenue and in doing so, contribute to the further diversification of the national economy.
“The OCEC, with its surrounding precinct, is expected to generate over USD 760 million in local spending during the development phases, and will create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities,” said Eng. Al Lawati.
OCEC’s General Manager, Trevor McCartney added, “As a leader in the business events industry and business development in Oman, one of the main roles of the OCEC is to power employment and commercial opportunities in this sector, driving the Sultanate towards a diversified, sustainable and prosperous economic future.”
“This recruitment campaign is very much part of our commitment to that vision and is one of many to come. We look forward to welcoming new employees to the fast-growing OCEC family and eagerly anticipate their contributions, as we look to welcome over 600,000 visitors per annum on completion,” said McCartney.
