The event provided representatives from euromic’s 36 member DMCs the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, welcome new members, discuss association and industry issues with client and media representatives and lay out plans for the years ahead.
The gathering, held in Cairo as a testament to the association’s commitment to the region and its members there, was generously sponsored by the Egypt Ministry of Tourism, Egyptair, the Cairo Marriott Hotel and euromic‘s member in Egypt, Emeco Travel. The hosts organized an incentive-style meeting which featured visits to many of Egypt’s top sights and venues, including the Pyramids of Giza, the Egyptian Museum, the Mena House and a post-tour Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan.
On the special award dinner it was featured honorary tributes to euromic‘s past presidents from the association’s 40 year history: Harry Baum, Jean-Claude Murat, Herbert Uhlir, Issy Scher, Elhamy ElZayat, Marc Dans, H.E. Munir Nassar and Giancarlo Carrera.
“Recognizing our past Presidents was the least this second generation of euromic members could have done to thank those eight leaders who worked to keep our Association on the cutting edge of the MICE business over the past 40 years,” says Mr. Karim El Minabawy, President of euromic. “Activities and expansions agreed upon over this 41st annual general assembly are to ensure that euromic will continue its leading position for future decades.”
